2010-07-31 (Foxbox): The waters of Long Island’s Great South Bay provided challenging conditions for youth sailors competing in the 2010 Youth World Championship. After three days of racing, Jose Gutierrez of Venezuela earned the top spot on the podium. Jose was followed by Fernando I Monllor (Puerto Rico), Nick Valente (USA), Kamilla Saboga Mellet (Ecuador) and Gary Prieto (USA).Jose is now qualified for the 2011 Worlds, because of a recent accepted motion to the qualification poaragraph. The revised paragraph: "The top ten (10) finishers at the previous World Championship and all former and current World Champions automatically qualify in addition to the quotas for their countries. Also, the top five (5) finishers at the European and South American Championships, the winner of the Masters International Championship and the winner of the Youth World Championship are eligible to compete in addition to their country quotas. In addition, the North American, South American, and European Champions for the prior three (3) years also qualify for the World Championship. Alternates will not be selected to fill these places should the qualifier be unable to attend." Overall results |  |

2010-03-26 (Gerard -Foxbox- Vos): Stephen Smeulders won this years edition of the "Wim van der Gulik Sunfish Zee wedstrijden", a regatta in the series for 2011 Worlds qualification for Curacao sailors. Under heavy wind conditions (27-32 knots) he scored an impressive 1-1. Second place went to Bruce Brandt (2-3), third place: Jurgen Schneider (4-2). | |
